Paramount Pictures has reportedly begun developing a remake of Amy Heckerling’s 1995 comedy classic “Clueless”.
Loosely based on Jane Austen’s “Emma” but set in modern-day Los Angeles, Alicia Silverstone starred in the original as Cher Horowitz, a rich and popular Beverly Hills high school student who tries to boost a klutzy new pupil’s popularity. She soon realises her disapproving ex-stepbrother (Paul Rudd) was right about how misguided she was – and the pair fall for each other.
Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, and Dan Hedaya co-starred. Marquita Robinson, who serves as a story editor and writer on Netflix’s “GLOW,” will pen the script for the new take with “Girls Trip” writer Tracy Oliver producing.
