“Arrow” and “The Flash” producer Greg Berlanti is developing a live-action TV drama series based on the African-American DC Comics superhero “Black Lightning”.
The story centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend – Black Lightning. In the comics, Pierce has two daughters codenamed ‘Thunder’ and ‘Lightning’.
Husband/wife duo Mara Brock and Salim Akil (“Being Mary Jane”) are spearheading the project which is currently being shopped around to various networks – suggesting this won’t be a part of the shared ‘Berlanti-verse’ of DC shows on The CW.
