3D “Journey” Sequel Gets A Shake-Up

The “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D” sequel is getting a shake-up as both star Brendan Fraser and director Eric Brevig seem to have withdrawn from the feature in development at New Line and Walden Media.

Deadline reports that Brad Peyton (“Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore”) is making a deal to direct the feature which could be refocused with the nephew character played by Josh Hutcherson as the lead.

Fraser felt strongly about making the movie with Brevig, however the studio wants the film out by Fall 2011 which wouldn’t fit with Brevig’s schedule. Right now Fraser could still potentially be involved, but it is looking unlikely.
