Like the Brandon Lee-led original and its three sequels, the story follows a rock musician who is murdered while trying to save his fiancee from thugs. He is resurrected by supernatural forces and seeks revenge.

This latest attempt at bringing the resurrected gothic vengeful hero back to the big screen follows on from its seeming demise last year when Mark Wahlberg passed on the role while Stephen Norrington walked away as director over “creative differences”.

Nick Cave also did some work on the script which was said to split the action between the deserts of the U.S. south-west and a more urban location. Now though, a new writer is expected to be brought in to work with Fresnadillo.

Fresnadillo was suggested as a possibility on February and is now set for the gig which Edward R. Pressman, Jeff Most, Ryan Kavanaugh, Enrique Lopez Lavigne and Belen Atienza will produce.
