Chris Diamantopoulos has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to play Moe Howard in “The Three Stooges” at 20th Century Fox reports Variety.
Directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly and casting director Rick Montgomery met thousands of candidates to play the sternest of the Stooges clan which currently includes Will Sasso as Curly and Sean Hayes as Larry.
Diamantopoulos has had key roles in various TV shows including “The Starter Wife,” “State of Mind” and several voice roles on “American Dad”. He was most recently seen playing Frank Sinatra in “The Kennedys” and starred as the President’s Chief of Staff in the last season of “24”.
However it was his portrayal of Robin Williams in the 2005 telepic “Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of ‘Mork and Mindy'” that got the Farrelly’s attention.
Diamantopoulos recently screen tested for the part and an offer is expected shortly.
