22 Jump Scores Big Thursday Previews

The upcoming action comedy sequel “22 Jump Street” pulled in $5.5 million in Thursday night previews, more than doubling the $2.6 million Thursday night debut of R-rated comedy “Neighbors” last month.

Both “22 Jump Street” and “How to Train Your Dragon 2” are estimated to open above $50 million each according to tracking figures, that’s easily ahead of the $36 million that “21 Jump Street” opened to in 2012.

One big difference between the ‘Jump’ and ‘Dragon’ sequels is their budgets. “22 Jump Street” was made for a $65 million budget, whereas “How to Train Your Dragon 2” cost $145 million to produce.
