Sony Pictures is reportedly said to be seriously considering the possibility of combining their “21 Jump Street” and “Men in Black” franchises. The Wall Street Journal reports that a follow-up to “22 Jump Street” could see Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s cop characters interacting with the universe established within the “Men in Black” franchise.
MIB duo Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones would either not be included or only cameo in the film, while ‘Jump Street’ helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are producing the project and may direct it.
The paper claims the project is a priority for the studio and they want to move forward on it quickly, but no script is in place as yet. There’s also indications that the project is essentially a stepping stone on the way to a fully fledged, standalone fourth “Men in Black” film.
