Sci-fi novelist Whitley Strieber confirmed rumors to SCI FI Wire that “Transformers” director Michael Bay is interested in directing a film version of his latest book “2012: The War for the Souls.”
“I don’t know if he will direct it for sure, but I know he is interested in directing it. Michael Bay’s company did buy the rights to 2012, though, and he will at least produce it” says Strieber.
Strieber’s novel is about a door to a parallel Earth that opens on December 21st 2012 – prophesied by Nostradamus and the Mayan calendar as being the beginning of the End of Days.
Thing is, with the panic of the strike coming up, Bay is being keenly sought to helm various projects – one of which being a “Transformers” sequel.
Whilst its certain a “Transformers” sequel won’t be ready in time pre-strike, according to Box-Office Mojo the studio has still set a June 26th 2009 release date for the sequel, indicating that they’re definitely keen on it being in production next year, strike or no strike.
