The twenty-second film in the 007 franchise and the second featuring Daniel Craig as James Bond. Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.
Forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.
On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.
In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation.

The IMDb
- Although imagery of her character may feature, Eva Green will not film any new footage as Vesper Lynd for the film.
- Names rumoured as potential Bond girls for this outing include Carice Van Houten, Abbie Cornish and Sienna Miller. Names rumoured for the villains include Goran Visnjic.
- Once again, neither the characters of Miss Moneypenny or "Q" will be part of the story. Also despite the title, the film will not be utilizing any part of the original Ian Fleming short story.
- This will mark Daniel Craig's second time as James Bond. Executives at MGM have confirmed that they have signed the actor for five films in total (inc. 'Royale' and this one) as the MI6 agent.
- Neal Purvis and Robert Wade completed their draft of the script by April 2007 and the following month "Crash" writer/director Paul Haggis, who had polished the "Casino Royale" script, began his re-write.
- Haggis completed his work on the script a mere two hours before the Writers Guild of America strike of November 2007 officially began. He also confirmed that much of the first draft he had polished was thrown out in early September.
- Roger Michell was being negotiated with to direct but eventually turned down the gig. Richard Curtis, Martin Campbell and Paul Haggis were also linked to direct.
- Filming will be based at Bond's spiritual home of Pinewood Studios in the UK, including the newly rebuilt 007 Stage.
- Offices and a lodge underneath one of the world's largest telescopes at Paranal Observatory in Chile's Atacama desert acted as an eco-hotel, used by the villain.
- The first filming took place at the Palio di Siena horse race on August 16th 2007. Fourteen cameras were placed around the arena, and shots of the race will be edited into the film's action. Bond will be seen emerging from the fountain in the middle of te Piazza del Campo just at the moment that the horse race ends.
- Plans to film near the Incan ruins at Machu Picchu, Peru was scratched due to uncertain weather conditions in the area.
- Much of the film's action takes place in Bolivia, but due to that country's rather third-world nature both Panama and Chile were used for filming instead. The move caused much furore in Chile, so much so that the mayor of a town where filming took place drove onto the set and loudly interrupted filming. He was detained by the police.
- A chase sequence across the rooftops of Siena in Italy was to end with Bond emerging from the underground cisterns at Siena Cathedral. It was cut from the script as it was considered culturally sensitive and disrespectful.
- Forster is the first Bond director to not come from the British Commonwealth, although he slyly noted that Bond's mother is Swiss, making him somewhat appropriate to handle the British icon.
- The film was originally scheduled for a May 2nd 2008 release date but got pushed back six months to the series more regular mid-November release date slot to allow more time to complete work on the project.
- This film will be an environmentally themed Bond movie, the first to do so, although the key 'macguffin' is control of water. Bond macguffin's have included control of other natural resources like oil, gold and diamonds.
- Paul McCartney turned down the offer to write a new James Bond song and recommended singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse for the job.
- The Aston Martin DBS V12 will return in the film, and will be supplied with some gadgets. Several were used for the production, one of which crashed into Lake Garda when a stunt driver lost control in heavy rain whilst driving around the lake's windy and narrow roads.
