    Storyline
    An authentic, gritty, and emotional portrait of the New York City Police Department. The film follows a multi-generational police family whose moral code is tested when one of two sons on the force investigates an incendiary case involving his older brother and brother-in-law. The case forces the family to choose between their loyalties to one another and their loyalties to the department.

    - O'Connor began writing the script in 1999 with his brother Greg O'Connor after completing Tumbleweeds. The O'Connor brothers wrote a story that was personal to both.

    - O'Connor described their intention: "My father was a New York City detective, and I grew up in that world. It's a celebration of honest cops, which was everything my father was about. Though it is fictional, it is an homage to my father."

    - Actor Nick Nolte was originally cast to portray the father in a family of cops, but due to a chronic knee injury becoming too severe, he was replaced by Jon Voight in the role.
