    Storyline
Sydney Wells (Alba) is an accomplished, independent, Los Angeles-based concert violinist. She is also blind, and has been so since a childhood tragedy. As our story opens, Sydney undergoes a double corneal transplant, a surgery she has waited her whole life to have, and her sight is restored. After the surgery, neural ophthalmologist Dr. Paul Faulkner (Nivola) helps Sydney with the difficult adjustment, and with the support of her older sister Helen (Posey), Sydney learns to see again.

But Sydney's happiness is short-lived as unexplainable shadowy and frightening images start to haunt her. Are they a passing aftermath of her surgery, Sydney's mind adjusting to sight, a product of her imagination, or something horrifyingly real? As Sydney's family and friends begin to doubt her sanity, Sydney is soon convinced that her anonymous eye donor has somehow opened the door to a terrifying world only she can now see.

    Trivia
    - Remake rights to the Pang Brothers' original 2002 Hong Kong film, The Eye, were purchased by Cruise/Wagner Productions, and their remake follows Naina, a Hindi movie released in 2005, that is also based on the Pang Brothers' film.

    - The Hollywood remake was initially set to be produced by Paramount Pictures, with Renée Zellweger as star, and Hideo Nakata as director.

    - After Tom Cruise and Sumner Redstone, chairman of Paramount-parent Viacom had a public falling-out in 2006, the film was picked up by Lions Gate Entertainment, which then gave the lead role to Jessica Alba and David Moreau and Xavier Palud were brought in as directors.

    - Two weeks of reshoots took place in August 2007 in Vancouver, and most notably the directors weren't asked back to do it. Instead editor Patrick Lussier was brought in for the additional shooting.

    - Jessica Alba was known as Obi Wan on set. She took six months of violin lessons to prepare for her role as a blind soloist.
