Plot: Another telling of the popular Broadway musical, based on Gaston Leroux's original novel, this new version will be directed by Joel Schumacher. The story is about a deranged, disfigured masked man, the Phantom (Gerard Butler), who roams around the Paris Opera House, haunting the actors and actresses. He falls for the young soprano, Christine Daae (Emmy Rossum), and tutors her so well she passes another soprano (Minnie Driver) as the city's best. He's smitten and wants Christine for his own, but she still has feelings for a childhood love, Raoul Viscount de Changey (Patrick Wilson). Feeling betrayed, the Phantom kidnaps Christine with plans to make her his eternal bride.
