1917 Featurette Explores War Films Single Shot

Universal Pictures has premiered a featurette for the Sam Mendes-directed war epic “1917” which explores the film’s main hook – a war movie that unfolds as one continuous, unbroken shot across the entire feature runtime.

Set at the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers named Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission.

In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers РBlake’s own brother among them.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, Richard Madden, Mark Strong, Andrew Scott and Daniel Mays co-star in the film which Mendes penned with Krysty Wilson-Cairns and which boasts Roger Deakins as its director of photography.

Universal Pictures will release the film domestically in limited release on December 25th ahead of a January 10th wide bow.
