13 Ghosts Remade Again As A Short Film

Screen Gems is teaming with digital horror network Crypt TV to produce a ten-minute short film based on William Castle’s 1960 horror film “13 Ghosts” which will begin filming this winter for an early 2020 release on Crypt’s YouTube and Facebook channels.

The original story centered on a family who inherited a house harboring thirteen diabolical spirits. Steve Beck helmed a 2001 remake starring Matthew Lillard, F. Murray Abraham and Shannon Elizabeth.

The aim is to create longer-form content based on the reception of the short and is Crypt’s first handling of an established IP. The company recently did a deal with Facebook Watch to create five exclusive original series for the social media platform’s service.

Scott Strauss and Michael Bitar will produce.
