Having just started the promo rounds for the disaster epic “Pompeii,” filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson was asked about the status of the next entry in the “Resident Evil” franchise which he’s slated to direct.
Anderson tells Collider that “Pompeii” was only finished a few days ago, and so “we’d like to do another Resident Evil movie. Definitely. But the wheels aren’t quite in motion yet.”
In fact, Anderson apparently hasn’t begun writing the script though has previously suggested a story which would essentially be a ‘franchise closer’ that would wrap up all the lingering subplots.
Screen Gems President Clint Culpepper adds that “Resident Evil 6” is a priority for the studio, they’re just waiting on Anderson.
