“Mama” director Andy Muschietti is in negotiations to helm an adaptation of Josh Malerman’s sci-fi manuscript “Bird Box” at Universal Pictures.
Malerman, the frontman to rock group The High Strung, penned the work which is set to be published in 2014. Universal has already optioned the film rights.
The story deals with a blindfolded threesome comprised of a woman and two children who make their way down a river in a seemingly postapocalyptic setting.
Scott Stuber, Chris Morgan and Barbara Muschietti will produce. Writers are currently being sought.
