CBS is officially moving forward with its proposed “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff series “How I Met Your Dad”. While news of the project leaked several weeks ago, it wasn’t until yesterday that the network handed out a hefty pilot-production commitment.
The series will follow in the vein of the original, albeit this time from a female point of view. It will also feature all new characters. Though there was talk of doing a back-door pilot episode in the current final season, that’s been scrapped and will be shot as a stand-alone pilot.
‘Mother’ co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have teamed with “Up All Night” creator Emily Spivey for the project which they will pen and executive produce. The current season of ‘Mother’ is averaging a 4.5 rating and 10.5 million viewers in Live+7 ratings.
