“Downton Abbey” has been renewed for a fifth season which PBS has confirmed it will screen in the United States.
While the fourth season has yet to air in the United States, the show just screened that season’s finale on ITV in the UK on Sunday where it drew 9.8 million average viewers and a 40.2% share.
That makes it Britain’s highest-rated television drama series broadcast in 2013. A two-hour special episode is also slated to air on Christmas Day.
The third season pulled in more than 24 million viewers on PBS, making it the most-watched drama in the U.S. network’s history. The fourth season is slated to premiere on January 5th.
