Warner Bros. Pictures have rebranded their digital production branch with the name Blue Ribbon Content. In the process, they’ve announced their entire slate of digital live-action short series including a bunch of freshly announced projects.
Two are particularly notable. The first is a reboot of the cult classic comedy/sci-fi/horror 1980s film franchise “Critters”. Michael Jelenic & Aaron Horvath (“Teen Titans Go!”) are penning a new web series about a group of malevolent carnivorous alien furballs from outer space and the bounty hunters in pursuit of them somewhere in rural Kansas.
The second is “Static Shock, a live-action adaptation of the DC Comics character and animated series “Static Shock”. Reginald Hudlin heads up the creative team behind the project which will focus on Static, aka Virgil Ovid Hawkins, a high school student who gains a variety of electromagnetic powers and becomes a costumed crusader against crime.
Also freshly announced is the Akiva Goldsman-produced horror/thriller “Ouroboros” about two cops overwhelmed by a series of mysterious attacks in remote Wisconsin, the comedy “RejecTED” about rejected famous speeches, “Golden Revenge” about two house pets seeking revenge for betrayal by their owner, and the high school clique-themed “Ginger Snaps” (nothing to do with the werewolf film franchise of the same name).
The new projects join the already announced animated project “Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles” for Machinima, an untitled “Mortal Kombat” series from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and the “Veronica Mars” spin-off “Play It Again, Dick”.
